Job description

Our client is a leading manufacturer of plastic packaging in Europe with an impressive history. As of 2024, they are the largest producer in the sector, primarily serving the food industry through a classic B2B model. With modern manufacturing facilities in multiple locations, they employ around 1,400 people and operate five advanced production and logistics centers. The company has a notable presence in over 50 markets through their products with HQ based in Varna, Bulgaria. Currently, our client is undergoing a transformation following the acquisition of several companies, leading to the reformation of key functions and new processes. They are focused on consolidating financial data and enhancing operational efficiency.

As part of their growth strategy, our client is seeking a Chief Accountant to report directly to the CFO. This role offers exciting career advancement opportunities, potentially leading to international responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have experience managing finance teams, a solid understanding of established processes, and a proactive approach to driving innovation. With a strong commitment to excellence, our client is well-positioned for future growth in the competitive packaging industry. The company's location is in Varna, but the individual in this position can work remotely and travel there several times a month.


Chief Accountant 


Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Consolidate financial statements for multiple legal entities and provide timely financial analysis and forecasts.
  • Lead the budgeting and cost control processes, ensuring sufficient liquidity and investment of idle funds.
  • Oversee accounting audits and analyze financial indicators to implement preventive measures.
  • Facilitate decision-making across functions by evaluating investment projects and driving financial strategies.
  • Develop and manage a geographically dispersed accounting team while engaging key stakeholders and implementing standardized HR processes.


Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, regulatory compliance, and experience in consolidating financial statements.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, cost control, liquidity management, and financial analysis.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and develop geographically dispersed teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with key stakeholders and facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in drafting and implementing financial policies, procedures, and preventive plans.
  • Fluent in English
