They are currently looking for a highly skilled Senior PHP Backend Engineer with Python knowledge to contribute to the growth and modernization of their partner and client - a well-established U.S. ad-serving platform that processes over 10 billion requests daily. As part of a distributed team spanning the USA, Spain, Ukraine, and Bulgaria, with the CTO based in Bulgaria, the right candidate will help develop enterprise-grade systems which play a critical role in serving and optimizing ads for major technology companies and managing revenue flows.

Senior PHP Backend Engineer (with Python) - Fully Remote
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance software solutions using PHP, Python, JavaScript, AWS, Snowflake, and Apache Spark/Databricks.
- Write clean, well-designed, and scalable code for high-volume, high-availability applications.
- Deploy and maintain continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
- Implement and maintain effective testing strategies to ensure code quality and reliability.
- Participate in scoping, refining, and planning new features and projects.
- Engage in team-based collaboration and decision-making processes.
- Solve complex problems using best practices in software development.
- Partner with data science and analysis teams to leverage machine learning and analytics for marketplace optimization.
- Collaborate with media buyers and work closely with accounts teams managing relationships with a larger publisher network.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong background in building enterprise-grade, high-availability systems.
- Proficiency in PHP and Python, with experience in transitioning legacy systems to modern architectures.
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, including services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, and CloudFormation.
- Deep understanding of software architecture and design patterns, including microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Strong background in big data technologies, including Snowflake and Apache Spark/Databricks.
- Hands-on experience with data modeling, performance tuning, and database optimization, particularly in MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases.
- Proven track record in optimizing large-scale ad-serving, analytics, or data-intensive applications that process billions of requests per day.
- Expertise in JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular) is a plus.
- Ability to work in distributed teams across multiple time zones, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Excellent English language skills.
